A payment default entry — maksuhäiriömerkintä — makes apartment hunting harder, but it does not have to end it. What changes a landlord's mind is current evidence that you pay your rent.
Most landlords use a credit report as a yes/no filter because it is the only check they know how to run. The report shows that something went wrong once. It says nothing about the 24 months of rent you have since paid on the first working day of every month.
Connect the account you pay rent from to Maja, confirm your rent payment and share your verified history with the landlord. They see how many monthly payments were verified straight from your bank feed, how many were on time, and your reliability label. Because the data comes from the bank rather than from you, it carries weight that a written explanation never will. Maja runs no credit check and creates no new entry.
Default entries are removed after a set period, typically two to four years depending on the case and whether the debt has been paid. In the meantime, a growing verified payment history is the strongest counterweight you can build — every month you pay on time makes your profile better.
One short paragraph: your situation, the fact of the entry, and a link to your verified Maja history showing consecutive on-time rent payments. Landlords reward candour combined with evidence.
